Springfield Adult Learning Center (SALC)
SALC is Your 1st Step to Your Next Step
The Springfield Adult Learning Center (SALC), previously known as Adult Basic Education (ABE), provides free classes for adults to further their education by earning a High School Equivalency Certificate (HSE) which includes preparing for a GED or a HiSET exam; developing computer, email, or internet skills; learning English as a second language; or enrolling as a student at Springfield Technical Community College (博彩网站) college after completing an HSE.
Classes are on campus during day and evening hours as well as online through remote learning classes. Classes focus on preparing students for college, careers, and vocational certificate programs. All classes are free for eligible students.
Programs
English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
ESOL classes are designed for beginner to advanced English speakers and cover English speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
ESOL MassSTEP Culinary/Hospitality
The ESOL MassSTEP is for people learning English who are at an intermediate level who want to the skills and certifications necessary to begin a career in the culinary/hospitality sector. Students earn ServSafe Food Handler and Manager, OSHA10, and other workplace certificates, in addition to knife skills and culinary fundamentals.
Basic Computer Skills (Hampden Prep)
Our Basic Computer Skills program prepares students for the 21st century by providing instruction in technology and digital literacy. Students work to improve their computer and job-ready skills as well as prepare to earn certificates.
HiSET/GED Exam Preparation Classes
HiSET/GED Exam Preparation classes prepare students for the High School Equivalency Test, the academic challenges of college-level courses, and the challenges of entering employment.
Transition to College (T2C)
The Transition to College (T2C) program is designed to assist adult learners who have completed their high school equivalency (HiSET/GED) through a DESE-funded program such as SALC through their first year of college at 博彩网站.
